July Chapter Meeting
July 20, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Audubon members are curious observers of our natural world. The same habitats that attract birds provide ample opportunities to observe beautiful insects, flowers, trees, mushrooms, life from the tiny to the immense, and inspire us to learn about them. Several of us use cameras as a tool to capture images of what we observe in order to appreciate their beauty and study their habits.
This month we welcome a presentation on close up and macro photography by Andy Butler, president of the Pagosa Springs Photography Club. Butler is a nature and landscape photographer who lives in Pagosa Springs. He has been photographing both small and large subjects since the 1970s.
He will give a brief introduction to taking photographs of very small subjects, with various types of cameras. Included will be pointers on finding subjects and creating pleasing images. The presentation will have an emphasis on approaches to photographing flying insects such as butterflies and dragonflies. His talk will also include aspects of the biology of these beautiful insects.
Please join us on Wednesday, July 20, at the Community Methodist Church on Lewis St. for the Weminuche Audubon Society July chapter meeting with Butler’s fascinating presentation. We will meet at 6:00 PM to set up and socialize, with the meeting starting at 6:30. In appreciation for our meeting space, donations of non-perishable items for the food pantry are appreciated.
Audubon events are open to the public and we look forward to your joining us. Memberships are available at our meetings. For those unable to attend in person, the Zoom link follows:
