June Plant Walk
June 3, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Join us for a fun and educational ramble through the forest, led by certified herbalist Lake McCullough, as we identify edible and medicinal native plants. The walks are free of charge! Offered in partnership with the Weminuche Audubon Society. In order to handle increased popularity and demand for information about our local ecosystems, we will be conducting two back-to-back plant walks at each location. The first tour will begin at 9:30 and run until 11:30. The second tour will begin at 11:45 and go until 1:45.
Early summer herbs, wildflowers, and edible plants in the most widespread ecosystem of Pagosa Country! Meet at Turkey Springs Trail System Gate #3, on Fremont Court. From Highway 160, take North Pagosa Boulevard north for 5 miles. The road forms a divided, one-way section. At the point where both sides of North Pagosa Blvd rejoin, take a sharp left-hand turn, doubling back on the southbound section of the road for 100 feet before taking the immediate next right at Coronado Circle. Immediately after the intersection, take the next right on Fremont Court. Please be considerate of private driveways when parking along the road. Walks are about 2 miles roundtrip. Please be prepared for rugged trails and unpredictable weather, and leave dogs at home.
These popular tours book up early and advance registration is required. There is a 15 person limit on each walk. To reserve a spot, call Lake at 970-398-0923. Be sure to shop in her store, Earthsense Herbals on Main St, for natural remedies, gift items, handmade jewelry and artwork and so much more.
Additional walks will be held in July and August.
