In April our Audubon chapter members plan for spring, summer and fall projects and fun ways to spend time outdoors.  We have volunteer opportunities across a range of interests and we invite you to share your enthusiasm and curiosity with us.  At our April meeting, we will be promoting our projects and signing up volunteers to get involved with chapter activities.
Do you love getting your hands in dirt?  Then help us maintain and enhance our garden showcasing native plants at the Geothermal Greenhouse Partnership site in Centennial Park.
Are you interested in helping to educate youth and spark a passion for protecting the environment in future generations? There’s a place for you in Audubon Rockies’  programs for area youth headed by Southwest Colorado’s Community Naturalist, Keith Bruno.
An exciting learning opportunity shared with Pagosa Wetland Partners members will prepare you to participate in the Riverwalk Naturalist Program and share with locals and tourists the magic of our wetlands along the river in town.
And of course we have citizen science projects for the bird lovers among us.  Learn to survey bird populations and spend some time in the woods watching and listening to birds. We need at least 20 volunteers to commit to our 5th Season Bird Monitoring Project.  Big rewards for a small time donation.  We’ll also be watching American dipper nests and looking to document Pinyon Jay populations, declining throughout their range.

   A desire to learn is the primary qualification we look for in volunteers.  We hope that you’ll find your niche in one or more of our volunteer opportunities and help us fulfill our chapter mission of promoting “the conservation and appreciation of birds and wildlife habitat”.
In appreciation for our meeting space, we welcome donations of non-perishable food for the church food bank.  If you are unable to attend but would like to volunteer for one of our projects contact us at weminuche.audubon@gmail.com
